Free Sales Target Calculator: Turn Revenue Into Daily Activity
A sales target calculator works backwards from your revenue goal to the daily activity needed to hit it. Divide the target by deal value to get deals, then divide by win rate, qualify rate and connect rate to get opportunities, conversations and dials. A ₹50 lakh month at the default rates needs 2,857 dials, about 24 per rep per day.

What is a sales target calculator?
A sales target calculator is a reverse funnel. You enter the revenue you must close this month, and it works backwards to the deals, qualified opportunities, connected conversations and dials needed to reach it. The Erino Sales Target to Daily Activity Calculator does this in your browser, for free, without a signup.
Most targets reach a team as one rupee figure, such as ₹50,00,000 for the month. That figure tells a rep nothing about what to do at 10 a.m. on a Tuesday. A reverse sales funnel turns it into daily sales activity targets: dials, connected conversations and opportunities per rep per day. Those are numbers a rep can control.
Four terms, defined once:
- Connect rate: the share of dials that reach a live person.
- Qualify rate: the share of connected conversations that become a qualified opportunity, meaning the person has a need, a budget and a reason to decide soon.
- Win rate: the share of qualified opportunities that become paying deals.
- Working days: the days your reps are really selling, not calendar days.
The calculator divides by these rates one stage at a time. It exists because forward planning hides a problem. If you only say "we need 50 deals", nobody asks how many calls that implies, and the gap appears on the 25th of the month when it is too late to fix. Working backwards on day one shows the gap while there is time to act.
Why does a revenue target need daily activity numbers for Indian sales teams?
A revenue target without activity numbers is a wish. Indian teams work leads that arrive in bursts from Meta lead ads, Google ads, IndiaMART, Justdial and portal enquiries, and a weak week cannot be rebuilt in the last few days of the month.
Three things make daily numbers matter here.
Telecalling carries the volume. In most Indian teams the first conversation is a phone call, followed by WhatsApp. Calls are countable, so they can be planned. If a rep dials 12 times when the plan needs 24, you see the shortfall by lunchtime.
Connect rates are low and uneven. Many dials go unanswered or land during meetings. The share that connects changes by source, time of day and city. A plan that ignores connect rate under counts the dials needed.
Targets are set top down. A founder or sales head picks a number, and managers pass it down as rupees. Reps guess how hard to work. When the month ends short, the blame lands on effort, when the real cause was that nobody converted the target into a plan.
Daily numbers also help coaching. If a rep hits the dial target but misses on opportunities, the problem is conversation quality. If the rep misses dials, the problem is discipline or time. If dials and conversations are fine but wins are low, the problem sits late in the funnel, and the Lead Leakage Calculator shows what a slow follow up costs you there.
It is also a fairness issue. A rep who knows the target is 24 dials, 8 conversations and 2 opportunities a day can judge their own day. A rep who only knows "₹10 lakh this month" cannot.
How to use the Sales Target to Daily Activity Calculator
Use your last two or three months of real numbers wherever you can. The tool loads defaults so you can see how it works, then you replace them with your own.
- Enter the monthly revenue target. Type the revenue you want to close, for example ₹50,00,000. Use closed and paid revenue, not pipeline.
- Enter the average deal value. Use the average of deals closed last quarter, not the list price of your best product.
- Enter your win rate. This is deals won divided by qualified opportunities. If you do not track it, use a cautious estimate and refine it after a month.
- Enter your qualify rate and connect rate. Qualified opportunities divided by connected conversations, and answered calls divided by dials. Your call log gives both.
- Enter working days and reps. Subtract Sundays, holidays, leave and training. Count only reps who carry a target.
- Read the daily plan. The tool shows team and per rep numbers for dials, conversations and opportunities.
Now compare the required dials per rep per day with what your reps do today. If the required number is far above their average, change one input before you demand more calls: improve connect rate with better calling windows, improve qualification with sharper questions, or revisit the target. Then share the per rep numbers and track them daily, not monthly.
How is your daily activity target calculated?
The calculator divides the revenue target by deal value, then by each stage rate in turn, and finally by working days and reps. It is plain arithmetic, so you can check it by hand.
Deals needed = Revenue target / Average deal value
Qualified opportunities = Deals needed / Win rate
Connected conversations = Qualified opportunities / Qualify rate
Dials = Connected conversations / Connect rate
Per rep per day = Monthly figure / Working days / Reps
Each input explained: the revenue target is closed revenue for the month. Average deal value is revenue per closed deal. Win rate, qualify rate and connect rate are the three stage conversions. Working days are real selling days. Reps is the number of people sharing the load.
The assumptions behind it matter as much as the maths.
- Rates stay constant as volume rises. In real life, pushing harder on a fixed lead pool can lower connect and qualify rates.
- Every rep performs equally. The per rep figure is an average, so a new joiner needs a different plan from a senior closer.
- Every dial has the same chance of connecting. A call to a fresh Meta lead ad enquiry connects differently from a call to a six month old list.
- The month is one funnel. For long cycles, such as manufacturing orders, set the target against deals that will close this month, not deals started this month.
Treat the outputs as a planning baseline, the first draft of a conversation with your team.
Worked example: a ₹50 lakh month for a five rep team
The example uses the default inputs: ₹50,00,000 target, ₹1,00,000 deal value, 20% win rate, 25% qualify rate, 35% connect rate, 24 working days and 5 reps. These are illustrative defaults, not a benchmark for your industry.
| Funnel stage | Rate applied | Team per month | Team per day | Per rep per day |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Revenue target | n/a | ₹50,00,000 | ₹2,08,333 | ₹41,667 |
| Deals needed | ₹1,00,000 per deal | 50 | 2.1 | 0.4 |
| Qualified opportunities | 20% win rate | 250 | 10.4 | 2.1 |
| Connected conversations | 25% qualify rate | 1,000 | 41.7 | 8.3 |
| Dials | 35% connect rate | 2,857 | 119 | 23.8 |
Read it from the bottom up. To close 50 deals you need 250 qualified opportunities, because one in five converts. To find 250 you need 1,000 live conversations, because one in four qualifies. To hold 1,000 conversations you need 2,857 dials, because about one in three connects.
The overall rate from dial to deal is 35% x 25% x 20%, which is 1.75%. So about 57 dials produce one deal, and each dial is worth about ₹1,750. That is a good coaching number. A rep who loses an hour to admin instead of 15 dials has given up about ₹26,000 of potential revenue, on average.
Per rep, the day is about 24 dials, 8 live conversations and 2 new qualified opportunities. That is demanding but possible if call logging and follow up scheduling do not eat time.
Now test sensitivity. The table changes one input at a time and holds the rest at default.
| Change (one at a time) | Dials per month | Team dials per day | Per rep per day |
|---|---|---|---|
| Defaults | 2,857 | 119.0 | 23.8 |
| Connect rate 35% to 40% | 2,500 | 104.2 | 20.8 |
| Connect rate 35% to 30% | 3,333 | 138.9 | 27.8 |
| Qualify rate 25% to 30% | 2,381 | 99.2 | 19.8 |
| Win rate 20% to 25% | 2,286 | 95.2 | 19.0 |
| Deal value ₹1,00,000 to ₹1,20,000 | 2,381 | 99.2 | 19.8 |
| Working days 24 to 22 | 2,857 | 129.9 | 26.0 |
A five point drop in connect rate adds about 4 dials per rep per day, and a five point gain in win rate removes about 5. Improving conversion is usually cheaper than adding calls.
How do you read your result?
Read the result by comparing required activity with what your reps do today. The gap, not the absolute number, tells you what to fix. If conversion rates hold, revenue scales with activity. At the default rates each dial is worth about ₹1,750, so a five rep team over 24 days would produce the following.
| Actual dials per rep per day | Dials in month | Deals at 1.75% | Revenue | Share of target |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 15 | 1,800 | 31.5 | ₹31,50,000 | 63% |
| 20 | 2,400 | 42 | ₹42,00,000 | 84% |
| 23.8 | 2,856 | about 50 | about ₹50,00,000 | 100% |
| 30 | 3,600 | 63 | ₹63,00,000 | 126% |
Use it as a way of thinking, not a promise, because rates drift as volume rises. Then read your own result in these ways:
- Required dials look easy. If your reps already do more, the target is not the problem. Check whether your win rate input is too generous.
- Required dials look reachable with effort. This is the healthy zone. Share the per rep numbers, track daily and review each Friday.
- Required dials look impossible. If the number exceeds what a rep can dial in a selling day, change a rate or the target before adding reps. The Sales Rep Capacity Calculator tests the hiring side.
Sales activity targets by industry
Use the same calculator, but redefine "qualified opportunity" as the step that is hardest to get in your business.
Real estate
Dials are cheap and site visits are scarce. Define a qualified opportunity as a confirmed site visit and set a daily visit booking target beside the dial target. Portal enquiries from 99acres and MagicBricks connect differently from Meta lead ad enquiries, so run the calculator once per source and add the results. Call every portal enquiry within five minutes, while the buyer is still browsing and comparing projects.
Education: schools, colleges, EdTech and study abroad
Counselling slots limit capacity. Treat a booked counselling session, demo class or campus visit as the qualified opportunity. Admission seasons are lumpy, so run the calculator with the peak month's target and fewer working days. Parents answer in the evening, so build dial blocks around that and keep mornings for follow ups. Study abroad teams should plan profile evaluation calls and application support calls separately.
Manufacturing and B2B
Deal values are high and cycles are long, so work backwards from quotations, not closed orders. A qualified opportunity is a confirmed requirement with a named buyer. Dials are fewer, but each conversation runs longer. Count emails, plant visits and sample requests as activity beside calls, and set a quarterly target that you divide into months, because one order can swing a single month.
Healthcare and clinics
Appointments are the unit, and the real constraint is doctor time, not rep time. Set the daily target to match free appointment slots. Confirmation calls and WhatsApp reminders the day before cut empty slots better than extra cold dials. Keep calling consent based and respectful under the DPDP Act, and let patients choose their preferred contact time. Missed appointments cost both revenue and doctor time.
Automotive
Test drives are the pivot. Define the qualified opportunity as a booked test drive and plan dials around showroom hours and weekend footfall. Enquiries come from brand websites, Meta lead ads and walk ins, and they connect at different rates. Track exchange and finance conversations as separate activity lines, since they often decide the booking after the drive, so someone must own them.
Insurance and financial services
Advisors often work their own contact lists and referrals, so connect rates swing widely. Set the funnel at needs analysis calls, not raw dials. Telecom rules on calling hours and registered numbers apply, so keep the dial plan inside what your compliance advisor allows. Renewal calls form a separate funnel with their own target, since a renewal call is far easier than a first call.
SMBs and services
With two to five sellers, the founder is usually one of them. Count the founder's selling time in the rep total, even if it is half a person. Use a simpler funnel: enquiries, conversations, proposals, wins. A weekly review of the daily numbers is enough, and the plan should fit on one page that every seller can read in a minute without opening a spreadsheet.
What mistakes do teams make with sales target planning?
The commonest mistake is using wishful rates. If you guess 40% for win rate because it sounds right, the plan under counts the activity required.
- Using list price instead of realised deal value. Discounts and cancelled orders reduce what you book. Use the average of closed, paid deals.
- Counting calendar days. Thirty days is not thirty selling days. Subtract Sundays, festivals, training and leave first.
- Applying one connect rate to every source. A hot inbound enquiry and a cold list do not behave alike. Calculate separately and add up.
- Setting targets without logging. If calls are not recorded in a CRM or shared sheet, you never learn the true rates and every plan is a guess.
- Chasing dial counts while quality drops. Careless calls can lower the qualify rate and cancel the benefit. Review a few calls a week against a scorecard.
- Ignoring the pipeline you already carry. If you carry opportunities from last month, fewer new dials are needed. Subtract expected closures from deals needed.
How can you improve your result?
You improve the result by lowering the dials, conversations or opportunities you need, not by asking reps to work longer. Each rate in the chain is a lever with an owner.
Raise your connect rate
Owner: sales manager. Timeline: two weeks.
- Pull call logs and find the hours with the best answer rates. Move dial blocks into them.
- Call new enquiries within minutes. The Lead Response Time Calculator shows what delay does to conversion.
- Send a WhatsApp message after a missed call saying who you are and when you will call back.
- Remove wrong numbers and duplicates from your lists.
Raise your qualify rate
Owner: team lead. Timeline: three to four weeks.
- Write down qualification criteria with at least four questions: need, budget, timeline and decision maker.
- Start from a Telecalling Script Generator draft and edit it for your market.
- Review five calls per rep each week and note where qualification went wrong.
- Stop counting weak leads as opportunities. An honest, lower qualify rate gives a plan you can trust.
Raise your win rate
Owner: sales head. Timeline: one to two months.
- Write stage exit rules so reps cannot call an opportunity qualified without evidence.
- Set a follow up cadence for every opportunity. The Follow Up Cadence Planner gives a day by day sequence.
- Record loss reasons and fix the commonest one first.
- Send a short WhatsApp summary after each call with the agreed next step and date.
Protect selling time
Owner: operations. Timeline: immediate.
- Measure how long a rep spends logging a call and cut it below a minute.
- Automate lead assignment so reps do not wait or argue over ownership.
- Keep a daily checklist: dials, conversations, opportunities and follow ups done.
- Hold a ten minute standup with the numbers, then stop.
Sales target planning: spreadsheet, CRM or Erino?
A spreadsheet can calculate the plan but cannot make it happen. The hard part is tracking actual dials, connect rate and conversion every day.
| Capability | Spreadsheet | Generic CRM | Erino |
|---|---|---|---|
| Reverse funnel maths | By hand | Custom reports | This free calculator, then track actuals |
| Daily dial and conversation counts | Manual entry by reps | Needs setup and discipline | Calls and chats logged against the lead |
| Next follow up on every lead | Rep memory | Often an optional field | Created at every stage |
| Call quality review | None | Add on or manual | AI analysis of every sales call |
| Setup time | Hours | Depends on vendor | Most teams go live in as little as 48 hours |
Zoho CRM, HubSpot, Salesforce, LeadSquared, Kylas and TeleCRM can all report on activity, and Indian teams use several of them well. The difference is usually how much setup the report needs and how much logging reps do by hand. Check each vendor's current plans before comparing.
Erino is an AI first sales CRM for high velocity teams in India. It assigns every lead an owner on arrival, creates the next follow up at every stage, analyses calls with AI and flags stuck deals in real time, so the targets from this calculator get tracked without extra admin. See the Erino platform, or the page on CRM for field sales in India if your reps also work visits.
Dhee Coding Lab reports 650+ monthly admissions, up from 40 to 50, a result that depends on working a high volume of enquiries every day. Read the full story. Pricing is quoted after a free 15 minute demo.
Frequently asked questions
How do you calculate daily sales activity from a monthly target?
Divide the monthly revenue target by average deal value to get deals needed. Divide that by win rate to get qualified opportunities, by qualify rate to get connected conversations, and by connect rate to get dials. Then divide each monthly figure by working days and by the number of reps. With a ₹50,00,000 target, ₹1,00,000 deals and the default rates, the answer is about 24 dials per rep per day, plus 8 conversations and 2 opportunities. Check the result against what your team really does today.
How many calls do I need to make to hit my sales target?
It depends on your connect, qualify and win rates, so there is no single number. At the default rates of 35%, 25% and 20%, a ₹50,00,000 target with ₹1,00,000 deals needs about 2,857 dials a month, which is roughly 119 a day for the team. Use your own data from the last quarter in the calculator. If your connect rate is lower than assumed, you will need more dials than this, so measure it before you commit.
What is a reverse sales funnel?
A reverse sales funnel starts with the revenue you want and works backwards through each stage conversion to find the activity needed. A normal funnel starts with leads and predicts revenue. The reverse version suits target setting because it shows how many dials, conversations and opportunities a team must create before the month begins, which makes any shortfall visible early enough to fix. It also gives managers a fair, specific number to coach against.
What is a good connect rate for sales calls?
There is no universal good connect rate, because it changes with lead source, time of day, city and list quality. Fresh inbound enquiries usually connect better than cold lists. This calculator uses 35% only as a default so you can see the maths. Measure answered calls divided by total dials for each source over a full month, then use your own figures rather than a number borrowed from another company or from an article.
Which sales activity metrics should a manager track daily?
Track dials, connected conversations, qualified opportunities created, follow ups completed and next steps booked for each rep. These five are within the rep's control and tend to predict revenue weeks ahead. Revenue and win rate are lagging measures that you review weekly. Keep the daily list short and visible so reps can read it at a glance and managers actually look at it every morning before the first calls begin.
Should the sales target be the same for every rep?
No, a single average is only a starting point. New reps usually need more dials to reach the same number of conversations, while experienced reps may need fewer dials but more time per conversation. Use the team average to see the overall load, then adjust per rep using each person's own connect, qualify and win rates from the last two or three months of real calls. Fair targets keep good reps motivated.
How often should I recalculate the daily activity plan?
Recalculate at the start of every month, and again at mid month if rates have moved. Use the latest actual connect, qualify and win rates, not the old assumptions. If you change lead sources, launch a new Meta lead ads campaign or add reps, recalculate immediately. A plan built on stale rates soon stops matching reality, and reps lose trust in the numbers they are asked to hit. Ten minutes of recalculation each month avoids that.
Can a CRM help me track activity against the target?
Yes, if it logs calls and follow ups automatically. A CRM such as Erino records calls and WhatsApp chats against each lead, shows owner, last touch and stage age in one view, and flags stuck deals. That lets you compare actual dials and conversations with the plan every day, without asking reps to update spreadsheets. You can see this working in a free 15 minute demo.
