What is a lead ad copy generator?

A lead ad copy generator is a tool that drafts the words of an ad from a few facts you supply. You enter your industry, platform, offer, audience, call to action and language. The tool returns five headlines and three descriptions, or primary texts, that you can edit and paste into your ad account.

A lead ad is an ad whose goal is a contact, not a purchase. The contact may be a form submission on Meta, a call or form click from a Google search ad, or a form fill from LinkedIn sponsored content. The copy has one job: persuade the right person to hand over a phone number, and persuade the wrong person to scroll past.

This generator is template based. It does not call an AI model and it does not know what works in your market. It assembles proven structures such as problem, offer, proof of relevance and next step, and it fills them with your inputs. Treat every line as a first draft. Your edits, your real offer and your real audience are what make the ad work.

The tool also shows live character counters. Each platform cuts or rejects text above a certain length, and a headline that reads well in a document can be truncated in the feed. Counting characters while you write saves a rejected ad and a wasted day. Limits change, so confirm the current ones inside each platform before you publish.

Why does lead ad copy matter for Indian sales teams?

Lead ad copy matters because it decides who enters your pipeline. Before a rep picks up the phone, the ad has already filtered the audience, set the expectation and shaped what the lead believes you will do next.

Indian teams buy leads from Meta lead ads, Google search, LinkedIn and portals such as 99acres, MagicBricks, Shiksha, IndiaMART and Justdial. On Meta especially, the form is short and the phone number is pre filled from the user's profile. That makes it easy to submit and easy to regret. A vague ad produces many form fills from people who did not know what they were agreeing to, and your telecallers then spend the day hearing "I did not enquire".

Weak copy causes countable problems.

  • The offer is unclear, so the lead cannot recall why they filled the form when you call.
  • The ad promises a callback but your team calls the next day, so the promise is already broken.
  • The ad targets a whole city but the product serves two localities, so a third of the leads are outside your area.
  • The copy is written in formal English for an audience that reads and speaks Hinglish, so it feels like someone else's ad.

Better copy does not guarantee more deals. It improves the match between who clicks and who you can serve. To see what a lead costs after the ad runs, use the Cost Per Lead ROI Calculator. To see how many leads your revenue target needs, use the Lead Generation Target Calculator.

Benchmarks for click through rate and cost per lead vary by industry, city, season and creative. Use your own ad account history as the baseline, not a number from the internet.

How to use the Lead Ad Copy Generator

You can have a first draft in about a minute. The page loads with a sample so you can see the format before you type.

  1. Pick your industry. Choose the closest match, such as real estate, education, manufacturing, healthcare, automotive, insurance or services. This sets the vocabulary and the typical objection the copy answers.
  2. Choose the platform. Select Meta lead ad, Google search ad or LinkedIn sponsored content. The counters switch to that platform's commonly used limits.
  3. State your offer in plain words. Write what the person receives, for example "a free profile review call" or "a site visit with pickup". Do not add claims you cannot back up.
  4. Describe the audience and location. Name the role, life stage or locality, such as "parents in Pune" or "plant managers in Coimbatore". Specific beats general.
  5. Pick the call to action. Choose get a callback, book a visit, download guide or get a quote. The call to action must match what your team actually does after the form.
  6. Choose the language. English suits LinkedIn and most B2B buyers. Hinglish often suits consumer audiences on Meta, where people read casually. Test both if you can.
  7. Edit against the counters. Trim any line that turns red, replace generic words with your real details and read each line aloud.

Then do the part the tool cannot do. Check current limits and the ad policy for your category, and make sure the offer on the ad is the offer on the form. Grade the form with the Lead Form Grader, because a good ad that leads to a poor form still loses leads.

How does the Lead Ad Copy Generator work?

The generator picks a set of sentence templates for your industry and platform, fills the blanks with your inputs, and measures each line against a character limit. It does no prediction and it stores nothing you type.

The logic has four steps.

line = template(industry, platform, call to action) + your offer + your audience + your location length = number of characters in line, including spaces and punctuation status = within limit if length <= platform limit, else over by (length minus limit)

Each input does a specific job.

  • Industry selects the vocabulary and the usual objection. A school ad addresses fees and safety. A machinery ad addresses delivery and service. A clinic ad addresses trust and waiting time.
  • Platform selects the structure and the limits. Search ads are short and keyword led. Feed ads have room for a sentence of context. LinkedIn copy reads like a professional note.
  • Offer is dropped into the headline and the first description. It is the most important input, so write it precisely.
  • Audience and location appear in the copy so the right reader recognises themselves.
  • Call to action decides the closing line and the button wording you should choose in the ad manager.
  • Language switches between English and Hinglish templates. Hinglish means Hindi written in English letters mixed with English words, which is how many people type on WhatsApp.

The limits used for the counters are commonly used values, not guarantees. They are listed here.

Platform and field Commonly used limit What to remember
Google search headline 30 characters Responsive search ads use several headlines, so write each to stand alone
Google search description 90 characters Put the call to action near the end
Meta headline about 40 characters Longer headlines may be cut in some placements
Meta primary text about 125 characters before truncation The first line must work even if the rest is hidden
LinkedIn intro text about 150 characters Lead with the reader's role or problem

Platforms update these limits and display rules. Confirm them in the current help pages of Google Ads, Meta Ads Manager and LinkedIn Campaign Manager before you finalise.

Two assumptions are built in. The tool assumes you have a real offer, and it will not invent prices or guarantees. It also assumes your team responds quickly after the form. If response takes a day, soften the call to action, for example "we will message you on WhatsApp".

Worked example: a study abroad counselling ad on Google search

This example is illustrative. The tool has no single default result, because the output depends on the inputs. Here is a realistic set of inputs and the kind of output you would see.

Inputs: industry is education (study abroad), platform is Google search ad, offer is a free profile review call, audience is students and parents in Hyderabad, call to action is get a callback, language is English.

Field Example text Characters Limit Status
Headline 1 Study Abroad Counselling 24 30 Within limit
Headline 2 Free Profile Review Call 24 30 Within limit
Headline 3 Hyderabad Counsellors Online 28 30 Within limit
Headline 4 Book a Callback Today 21 30 Within limit
Headline 5 UK, Canada, Germany Intakes 27 30 Within limit
Description 1 Talk to a counsellor about countries, courses and intakes. Share your details for a callback. 93 90 Over by 3
Description 2 Compare UK, Canada and Germany options with a counsellor. Request a callback today. 83 90 Within limit
Description 3 Get a call from a counsellor in Hyderabad. Share your details and we will ring back. 84 90 Within limit

The counters earn their place in row six. Description 1 reads fine but it runs three characters over, so the platform would reject it. You would change "Share your details for a callback" to "Share details for a callback". Fix overruns yourself, because a mechanical cut can remove the call to action.

Now interpret the set. The five headlines are different on purpose. One names the service, one states the offer, one names the place, one asks for the action and one adds a concrete detail. Google combines headlines in different orders, so each must make sense beside any other. Check for repeated words and for contradictions.

Notice what the copy does not contain. It has no fee, no "100% visa success" and no ranking claim. Those are the lines that cause ad rejections and complaints. The copy promises a callback, so the team must deliver a callback. Time that promise against reality with the Lead Response Time Calculator.

How do you read your result?

You read the result by checking three things in order: limits, clarity and honesty. A line that fails any of the three should be rewritten, whatever the counter says.

Limits. Green means within the commonly used limit. Over means shorten it. Far under the limit is also worth a look, because unused space on a search ad is lost persuasion. A 12 character headline when 30 are allowed usually means a missing detail.

Clarity. Read each headline as a stranger would. Can they tell what you sell, who it is for and what happens next? If two of the three answers are missing, rewrite.

Honesty. Every claim must be true on the day the ad runs and provable if asked. Remove superlatives such as best or number one unless you hold evidence, and avoid guarantees about outcomes.

After launch, the ad account tells you the rest. Compare click through rate, cost per lead and, more importantly, cost per qualified lead across your variants. Run a variant for long enough to collect a meaningful number of leads before you declare a winner. Fewer than a handful of leads per variant is noise.

Lead ad copy by industry

Different industries need different promises, objections and wording. These notes show how the same tool should be used differently.

Real estate

Name the locality, the configuration and the next step, such as "2 BHK in Wakad, site visit with pickup". Buyers fear being chased by many agents, so state who will call. Avoid price claims unless the price is current, and follow RERA advertising rules where they apply. Hinglish works well on Meta for resale and rental audiences.

Education: schools, colleges, EdTech and study abroad

Parents respond to specifics such as class, board, location and counselling slot. Students respond to course outcomes and intake dates. Study abroad ads should name countries and the profile review offer. Avoid placement or visa guarantees. Make the language match the decision maker, which is often the parent.

Manufacturing and B2B

Lead with the application and the buyer's role. A plant head searching Google wants a model, a capacity or a standard, not a slogan. Use LinkedIn or Google search, and write headlines around the part, process or compliance need. Offer a quote or a technical call, and say who answers.

Healthcare and clinics

Keep copy calm, factual and compliant. Name the specialty, the location and the booking action. Do not promise cures or outcomes, and follow advertising rules for health claims. A callback to book an appointment is a safe, useful offer. Mention language support, since patients often prefer a regional language.

Automotive

Name the model, the city and the action: test drive, exchange valuation or quote. Festive and year end offers change quickly, so check dates before launch. Meta lead ads suit test drive requests. Keep the form short, because buyers compare dealers within an hour.

Insurance and financial services

Regulated products need regulated language. Avoid return promises and guarantee style claims. Focus on the need, such as a protection review or a comparison call, and add the required disclosures. Because trust is the barrier, name the licensed entity and state that a representative will call.

SMBs and services

Local services win on place and speed: "AC repair in Indore, callback in 15 minutes", but only if you really call in 15 minutes. Use Hinglish where your customers speak it. A short Meta form and a WhatsApp reply often beat a long landing page for small ticket services.

What mistakes do teams make with lead ad copy?

Most mistakes come from writing for the advertiser instead of the reader. These are the ones that cost real money.

  • Promising a speed you cannot deliver. A "callback in 10 minutes" line creates a deadline the lead remembers, even if your team does not.
  • Stuffing every benefit into one line. The reader scans for one reason to act. Pick the strongest offer and say it once.
  • Ignoring the character limit until upload. The ad is rejected or truncated, and the key phrase at the end disappears.
  • Writing in a language your audience does not use. Formal English for a Hinglish audience reads as distant. Test both.
  • Mismatching the ad and the form. The ad says "free guide" and the form asks for budget and timeline. The lead leaves.
  • Judging copy by cost per lead alone. The cheapest lead is often the least qualified. Track cost per qualified lead and cost per deal.

How can you improve your result?

You improve ad copy by testing one change at a time, matching the ad to the form, and feeding sales outcomes back to the person who writes the ads. Treat copy as a process with owners, not a one time task.

Build a testing routine

Assign one owner for ad copy, usually the marketer or agency lead. Run a short test cycle every two weeks.

  • Change one variable per test: the offer, the headline angle or the language.
  • Keep the audience and budget the same across variants.
  • Record the variant name in a hidden field so each lead carries it into the CRM.
  • Decide in advance how many leads you need before choosing a winner.

Align the ad with the form and the follow up

Before launch, someone other than the writer should click the ad end to end on a mid range phone.

  • Does the form repeat the ad's promise in its first line?
  • Does the thank you message say who will call and when?
  • Is the call to action on the ad the same action the team takes?
  • Is a first response ready within minutes? Plan this with the Follow Up Cadence Planner.

Close the loop with sales

The copywriter cannot see what happens after the form. Create a short weekly review with the sales manager.

  • Ask callers which ads produce the clearest conversations.
  • Tag leads by ad variant and compare qualified rate, not just volume.
  • Add the common objection you hear to the next round of copy.

Offer something worth a phone number

If your ad asks for a number, give a reason that is real. The Lead Magnet Idea Generator can suggest offers for each buyer stage.

Lead ad copy: spreadsheet, CRM or Erino?

A spreadsheet can hold your ad copy library, but it cannot connect copy to outcomes. A generic CRM can store leads by source, but the ad variant and the follow up discipline are usually left to you. Erino sits after the ad: it is the CRM for what happens once the form is submitted.

Be clear about the order of work. You write and run ads on Meta, Google or LinkedIn. Lead capture then pushes the contact into your CRM. Erino takes over at that moment.

Approach Good for Weak at
Spreadsheet Keeping a swipe file of headlines and limits Linking variants to closed deals, assigning owners, enforcing follow ups
Generic CRM such as HubSpot, Zoho CRM, Kylas or TeleCRM Storing leads and basic pipelines Depends on your setup; check each vendor's current plans for assignment rules, WhatsApp inbox and call analysis
LeadSquared, Salesforce, Freshsales Rich lead capture and campaign tools for larger teams Cost and set up effort vary; check each vendor's current plans and limits
Erino Assigning every lead to an owner on arrival, creating the next follow up, WhatsApp Business API inbox, AI analysis of every call, stuck deal flags Does not create or run your ads, so pair it with your ad manager

Erino connects with lead forms, ads, portals and your website through more than 100 integrations, so a lead from a Meta form can reach a named owner in seconds. Teams usually go live in as little as 48 hours, and pricing is quoted after a free 15 minute demo. Read more on the Erino platform page, or see how it fits real estate and EdTech teams.

Frequently asked questions

What is a lead ad copy generator?

A lead ad copy generator is a tool that drafts ad headlines and descriptions from your industry, offer, audience and call to action. This one produces five headlines and three descriptions or primary texts for Meta, Google search or LinkedIn, in English or Hinglish. It shows live character counters, so you can fit each line to the platform's commonly used limit before you paste it into your ad account, and then edit the draft with your real details.

How long should a Facebook or Meta lead ad headline be?

Meta headlines are commonly kept to about 40 characters, because longer ones may be cut off in some placements. The primary text is often truncated after about 125 characters, so the first line should carry the main point and still make sense if the rest is hidden. These limits change and differ by placement, so check the current Meta Ads Manager guidance and preview the ad on a real phone before you publish it.

What are the character limits for Google search ad headlines?

Google responsive search ads commonly allow headlines of 30 characters and descriptions of 90 characters. Each headline can appear beside others in different orders, so write every one to stand alone and avoid repeating the same words. Google updates formats from time to time, so confirm the current limits inside Google Ads before you finalise. The generator's counters use these commonly used values and flag any line that runs over.

Can I write lead ad copy in Hinglish?

Yes, you can. Hinglish is Hindi written in English letters and mixed with English words, and many consumer audiences in India read and type this way on WhatsApp. It often suits Meta lead ads for real estate, education and local services. It suits LinkedIn less, where English is usual. Test both versions against the same audience and compare cost per qualified lead, not only clicks, over at least two weeks of live data.

What should I avoid in lead ad copy?

Avoid claims you cannot prove, such as guaranteed results, rankings or the best in the city. Avoid prices that are out of date, and avoid promises about callback speed that your team cannot meet. Health, finance, insurance and education categories carry stricter ad policies and legal rules. Read the platform policy for your category, and have a second person check the final text before launch, ideally someone from sales who knows the objections.

How many ad variations should I test?

Start with three to five headline angles and two or three descriptions per platform, as this tool outputs. Change one variable at a time, such as the offer or the language, and keep budget and audience equal. Wait until each variant has collected enough leads to compare qualified rates before you pick a winner. Very small samples mostly show luck, not a real difference between the ads, so be patient and keep notes on each test.

Does the tool use AI to write the ads?

No, it does not. The generator is template based. It combines structured sentence patterns with the inputs you supply and counts characters in your browser. That keeps the output predictable and avoids invented claims. It also means the text is a draft that needs your edits, your real offer and your local detail. Treat it as a starting point for your own copy, not a finished ad. Always read every line aloud before you publish it.

What should happen after someone submits my lead ad form?

The lead should reach a named owner within minutes, receive a first message on WhatsApp or a call, and have a dated next step. A fast, relevant reply is what turns a form fill into a conversation. Erino assigns each lead an owner on arrival and creates the next follow up automatically, so the promise in your ad is kept even when the form comes in late at night or on a busy weekend.
